Question for those who have done the 271 t-case swap

Well mine works great, held up to a rough and muddy track today running 2nd gear high range but I have a problem.

Everything engages and disengages as it should but I can not get my 4WD indicator light to go out. does anyone know what I have to do or which vacuum line to modify to make the light go out or could it just possibly be a hole in the vacuum line that controls that light?

I just replaced the 271's electric 4wd light switch with the big 4-tube vacuum switch that controls the front axle CAD etc.

I've seen this 271 swap mentioned before on this and other sites. I've tried to search it and can't find much info. What is the benefit from this swap and how hard is it to do?

Sheer strength is the benefit. It's not incredibly difficult. IIRC, getblown has a thread on the swap.

The 4WD indicator is controlled by a switch in the CAD. Either that switch is bad or more likely you're not getting the vacuum signal to disengage the CAD.

Could probably check to see if the cad is disengaging by trying to manually twist the front driveshaft with the truck in 2wd???
