Pulled Transfer Case, Sloppy Collar

The collar between the input shaft on the t-case and the output shaft on the transmission is pretty sloppy. Normal? is the collar softer? how do I know if the shafts are bad? thanks!

I would not ponder replacing the coupler since you are at almost half a million miles. I think it's time has come. Many have failed with fewer miles.

Well, I'm gonna leave it. My local mechanic says that it won't be a problem. If it was an auto, it would have a CLUNK when shifting between drive and reverse, but in my case it shouldn't cause a problem. If it does, It's not really that hard to get at.

Make sure you towing coverage is paid up on your insurance. My luck is that when it would break I would be far from home where towing would cost more than the replacement part. Good luck!!!

I had mine apart 3 months ago and there wasnt any slop in it. I would probably find a spare at least to take with you.

I'm going with Trebor and GITrDONE on this one. I've had mine apart to many times and I've never noticed much movement either. Plus if it goes then it risks taking out the input and output shafts and that would be NOT cool.

I think new. This is from their home page,,, All parts in our remanufactured standard transmissions, gears and transfer cases meet or exceed all original manufactures specifications, and most of the time are purchased from the same suppliers who supply the original manufacture...Doesn't say anything about used. They seem to have EVERY component of the rag...Mark

I'd be more concerned about the wear in the getrag output shaft and transfer case input shaft. They will wear easier than the coupler. I wouldn't worry about the coupler unless you plan on an expensive rebuild of a new getrag output shaft and transfer case input. Then do all three.

My buddy 'oldcool90' on here bought Greg (G12xxx) from New York's 500k mile getrag/205 combo and it was the same way. The splines were worn down and rough on both shafts. He didn't have much choice at the time to do his auto to getrag conversion. I'm sure he still thinks about it, but it's been doing fine at 350rwhp and towing. Run it.

I am sure the all state one is new. They normally have the lowest price on most stuff. I have not got any big parts from them, but they swear they are good parts. They can just sell lower than most other places.

If you notice the P/N is the same between them and drivetrain on that coupler.
