Pulled out the grid heaters.
I couldn't help but fab up a replacement for the grid heaters. I installed it today but my EGT gauge is not acting right so I can't give any real numbers. A new gauge has been on back order from Autometer for two weeks. If they don't deliver soon I may have to change brands. It does seem to reduce some of the smoke on heavy acceleration and just maybe it will cool things down abit. Without the grid in the flow path there should be better flow to the head. Whether or not it is a help will show up later. I disconnected the heater supply wires at the relays to prevent a short.

I did the exact same thing when I did my turbo swap as I had an extra blank grid heater housing. I couldnt tell you numbers either though cause I swapped turbo, housing, and tranny all at the same time.

i took mine out
just disassembled the grid heater spacer pluged the four holes and re-installed. fired up in 25 degree weather no problem. has to improve air-flow because those things cover the whole square inlet.

That is kinda what I was thinking. NAPA called while I was at work and told me the new pyrometer was in. Guess I will be sweating a lot tomorrow after work.
