Grid Heaters on a 2001.5

I have noticed since buying my truck used that even after the engine is good and warm the grid heaters will cycle when the engine is idling. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Andy

I think this is normal. When I unplug my truck on a cold morning, I still notice the headlights flickering---dim, bright, dim bright and so on. I'm not sure at exactly what temp the engine has to be to end the cycle, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Keep on keeping on,

Hunter

I find the intake heaters to be a little frustrating. Right after I bought my truck I was in town, truck was full temp just got off interstate, shut it down for 15 min fired up and my intake heaters were running. Ive thought of unhooking them as I always plug up at night anyhow.

The heaters will cycle if the outside temp dictates until the the truck exceeds a speed of 15 mph. If you come to a stop shut the engine down, then restart it, the heaters will again cycle regardless of the engine temp. It's an annoyance, I agree.
