grid heaters staying on...

How long do your grid heaters stay on, say it's 45 out? Mine seems to stay on for quite a while...seems like it's constantly clicking too...the light blinks and I can hear the relay going to town. The big issue is while a friend was borrowing it not too long ago the heaters stayed on and wouldn't go off...pulled over, and the lead wire was really hot he said, so the power wire is disconnected at the moment...not cold enough around here to need it yet really. My thoughts are that since the relay seems to be working, as I can hear it clicking on and off, it might either be the temperature sensor (is it a separate sensor or built into the grid heater) or the control module. Anybody had similar problems to this? I'm kinda cornfused at the moment. I appreciate the help,

Brian

My heaters will say on for 15 seconds or so before start up, then on and off every 15 sec or so for a few minutes. this was this am at 42 degrees. I ve read some guys just dont run them at all unless its really cold. It just makes some more smoke and a little harder to start. Got me on the relay or sensor, I think the sensor is in the intake by the center section.

silverbullet, more than likely it is your intake air temp sensor. When the intake sensor goes bad, it can and will send false readings for temp and allow the intake heaters to stay on.
