the head bolt thing is true though, It has something to do with hardness. My dad is supposed to ask their machinest at work tonight what it determines.
head bolts heat up and lose rigidity or hardness over time. plus they stretch

i was thinking of getting new era 370's. i think they are 5x16 injectors. someone told me they're slighty bigger than my non i/c injectors at 4x12 and that they won't haze or smoke much.
If you're going to bigger injectors, might as well just go with a set of New Era 6X.016's. I think New Era only charges $700 for a custom set, which is cheap compared to most other companies. Coaltrain is another company that has low prices.

You do realize how big 6x.016's are right?? talk about haze at idle. LOL
370's would be fine and wouldn't be too hazy, And they're cheap.

The issue we're at here is getting injectors close to stock Non i/c that will fit an i/c head. I didn't even know you were considering the 7mm head Jimbo?!? you just got all that work done to the 9mm head that was in good shape.

This one is for you Riflemanusmc, A ping or ring usually refers to a solid make up(no fragmentation or separations(IE- cracks)A thud MAY mean it's cracked.
stretching of a bolt Separates the molecules to the point of fragementing or cracking.
you can do the same thing with almost anything, Crankshafts etc... COULD i'm not saying take your crankshaft and drop it on the ground to see if its cracked

brandon,
i was considering a 7mm head if my 9mm was in bad enough shape. it's really not though. i just got back from the shop and it has very, very small cracks probably a pin hole size starting in 3 intake valve seats and 1 exhaust valve seat. i should be ok running it for a while longer but the cracks will only get bigger as time goes on. the head is getting machined down no more than .006" so i need a .010" gasket (anyone have that P/N? i need it ASAP, please!!). valve seals are the wrong design. being a top-hat style they won't fit and they weren't the kind that came off the valves, but the shop has some since they are universal. so what i have on the list is...
disassembly, cleaning (hot tank) & magnaflux: $75
head machining: $85
valve job: $225
valve seals: $10
so i'm in it for only $395. they have all the latest and greatest equipment for valve and valve seat grinding and a new head machine that can machine down .001" if needed. they'll have it done and fully assembled by wednesday. included in that price is running a wire wheel through the runners and the bowls as sort of a "polish" job to just de-burr everything. now i just need to deal with cummins so that i can keep the rest of the gasket kit but get a .010" head gasket and be credited for the valve seals i didn't use.
btw, 12mm arp studs are $553!!!!
i can do without those for a while

What do you mean you might as well ?!?!? 6x.016's ?????? Guys with super hx40's can't cool them muchless a baby H1c

His baby H1C won't cool the 370's either, (guys with the GDS 60mm comp. can't either) so might as well go with the best injector you can get for a single charger truck, and plan to upgrade the turbo accordingly. Wish I would have done that, but I got a smokin' deal on the 370's.

thanks brandon. i had the injectors pop tested and 4 of 6 are bad
. $85 a piece to rebuild them with basically new springs and shims inside. i think i'm gonna go with the coaltrain 370's (5x.012). anyone else using these injectors? how good are they other than adding 80-100hp (what they claim on their site)? do they usually have a good warranty to back them up?

they won't add 80hp over your stockers, the 80-100hp figure is for 91.5-93 trucks with the tiny injectors. maybe like 35-40hp if you don't touch the pump. 370's can support 400hp with enough air
ill think you'll be fine, your power screw is stock, fuel pin stock and you have an intercooler of some sort. a turbo upgrade should be in order for the future though.
any idea what turbo you have? stock turbo with 3" air inlet ?? when somebody put on an intercooler they must have changed the compressor housing to accomdate the flange for the intercooler elbow.
I know you'll be happy with the 370's for the money

i have the baby (non i/c) h1c. 3" inlet yes. it's not a standard intercooler elbow. i'll get a picture of it, but it's a one piece tube with 2 90's on both ends. so my turbo, even with a 60mm gds upgrade, won't cool very well with the 370's?

But stop and think about this Brandon...How will STEEL float on water?
