Problem with new headlight switch.

Last Friday my headlights went out, I could tell it was the headlight switch because I could smell it. I put a new switch in Saturday and Tuesday night they went out again. Didn't drive the truck again until today but I did have brights and no dims. So I installed the relays as per Jim Lanes directions, but my bright light indicator stayed on on the dash. I thought maybe I did something wrong so I switched the wires at the factory plug on the drivers side. I turned the light switch on and heard a pop under the dash. So I switched the wires back and now the lights work on bright but when I put them on dim I hear clicking like a flasher under the dash. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Darin

I found the problem, It is the circuit breaker in the switch. I could feel it when I touched the switch. But why would the bright light indicator stay on when the lights are on dim. I took the relay harness out of another truck that is rarely driven at night and it always worked fine in that truck.

You've got something wired wrong and are shorting to ground.

That wouldn't be a surprise Dave.
I'll check it when I feel better.
