I bought an upper for my 89 at the dealership. It was still available. I'm thinking it was less than $150.

Probably not. Upper maybe, it is not diesel specific. The lower is diesel specific. Someone else will jump in with more info on this...

You want to be careful removing and installing the bushings in these. IIRC they are threaded, not pressed in. It's a common mistake to press them out and ruin the control arm.

Lowers are diesel specific and different between intercooled and non-intercooled. Uppers are all the same for any D series Dodge from 1984 on.

They should be available from Dodge.

Nah the uppers are different as well, I don't know exactly when they changed but I have an 1989 D250 with the weak uppers (broke one in a parking lot) and a 1991 D250 had the good ones, and I replaced my 1989 uppers with a good set out of a 1992.. Mine broke on the aft joint, and low and behold the 1991 and later arms had a doubler in that same exact spot...

The old part number for the old style uppers has been superseded. The new style are listed for all trucks now.

So yes, they used to be different but the replacements are now all the same.
