Question Probably DUMB Lift-pump Question

Just out of curiousity, I read somewhere that a fuel-pump block-off plate for a small-block Chevy will fit the Cummins.

If that be the case, will a mechanical lift-pump from a small-block Chevy work on the Cummins??

Dumbest question, so far; but, who knows?? >> it might just work.

It may very well bolt up...haven't tried. Problem is, any mechanical gasser pump is not designed to flow the volumed needed by our engines. All a gasser mech. pump has to do is hold X pressure at the needle/seat of the carb and keep that little bowl full. The cummins is flowing in a constant loop both from the pump overflow and the injector overflow. Lot's more volume.

Gasser pumps aren't designed to pump a fluid as viscous as diesel either. So who knows how long one would last when asked to do so.

It's definately is not the small block chevy or mopar. The correct block off plate is from a big block chevy. BTDT. As far as what fuel pump would work, you got me.
