OK 2nt gen intercooler CORE 15 1/2" tall X 36 wide = 558"( 46.5 cubic feet of air)
24 V intercooler would have 49.5 cubic feet of air surface as it is 1" taller

Core area is about 5% smaller than the PS unit. Really not big deal, use whichever one you can get cheap.

Mine is 30 inches wide by 18 inches tall. = 540 inches. You win flash. I measured my 97 and concur with flash's measurements. I also measured thickness and they both run 2 inches thick. I got a good deal on the p/s i/c so that was why I went that way.

So if I assume correctly the PS IC might fit a little easier due to the fact that it is not as wide but in the same token makes it harder due to the fact that it is taller. Well I have the PS and won't be spending the cash for a 2nd gen so I am going to try my hardest to get it to fit behind the factory "early" 1st gen grill. I will keep all advised and get pics to.

The problem with a p/s cooler in the pre i/c trucks is the pipes exit right where the main structure is in the core support. The 2nd gen is alittle wider and it requires less structural cutting. Flash Is that right?

That is Right!
You can make either one fit with enought time.
But.

NON intercooled(89-91.0 = 2nt gen

Factory intercooled truck = P/S

If you go this rought i fill you will have the least amount of fab to do

that would make it 1.4 cubic inches Smaller..........about as close to equal as you can get!!!!!

In other word they should both cool equally as well!!!!
