One or both lights?

Check ther bulbs.

Check the wires that run to them under the bumper. Sometimes they break.

The lights are tied into the taillights if you follow the wires back to the harness.

If you take a look under the bed by the back bumper somewhat between the driver side and middle you will see a T type plug harness. This is where all the rear lights are connected. Follow the lights from the license plate to there plug either at that T connector or in between there and the lights. Pull the plug and check for corrosion also take the covers off the license lights and check the bulbs and for corrosion. If you have corrosion get some electrical contact cleaner and also some dielectric grease and then clean and grease any corroded area. Hopefully it's just a dirty plug or a bad bulb.

Good luck, Ryan
