Went to the movies tonight with the old lady...

Well plans fell through at work and i got off sooner than expected.. I decided it would be nice of me to take the girlfriend out to a movie. We had a good time, and was pretty relaxing.

I just wanna know what makes an order of nachos and cheese with some jalapanos worth $8.25USD? And what makes a medium Coke worth $4.50USD.
The price for tickets came out to $22.00USD together.

It costs the same amount of money to go to a movie with your special someone as it does to fuel the truck up these days!! I guess Im used to my hometown where the theatre there only had 1 screen and 1 movie. Ticket, popcorn, and soda will only cost ya about $5.00USD..

Anyone else notice these high prices at the movies or was it just the one I went to..??

I agree, the prices at the theatre........imo.......are way to high.

One thing you can do........is let the GF sneak in some goodies in her purse for you to eat/drink.

Or just stay home and watch recorded movies on the DVR......if you get one. I have numerous movies saved up to watch that I never seem to have enough time to get to.

Now when Transformers 2 comes out........I may break down and go see it at the theatre!

Some legislators were too cheap to pay for their childrens' college and raised minimum wage, so their children could make more at part time. So $4 of that bag of popcorn is for the 1/2 hour (at about $8 an hour) it took the kid to put it in a bag.

Well, you paid it didn't you? THAT'S what makes an nacho order worth $8.25 and a coke $4.50. That's also why I haven't been to a movie since I was in high school.

Yup. As said above. It's that price cause you paid it.

If you're wearing a jacket put your own drinks from home in your jacket pocket. If they have free refills on the popcorn (many theaters have stopped doing this) You can bring in a clean plastic grocery bag, dump the first round of popcorn in there and go get the second round before the movie starts. You still have to pay through the nose for the first bag but at least you get all you want without having to get up during the movie.

2 Popcorns, 3 Sodas = $22.00
3 Matinee tickets = $22.50

That's why for the most part I just wait and buy the DVD.

I refuse to support Hollywood, so I have no idea what movies cost.

Thats exactly why I subscribe to Netflix. Cheap, convenient, get to watch the movie of my choice while relaxed in my easy chair. Can stop it to do or get whatever, snack, cold beer, ice cream, whatever!

Have not been to the theater in I can't remember when.

ok, here is what we do.
wife and I hit the two dollar theater in the maul. (they run the movies that done decent, but hadn't hit video yet).
Drop three dollars in the vending machine just outside the door of theater for a couple bottles of coke.
She carries the cokes in her purse, I pay, we sit in the back and enjoy a movie for under $10. After the movie, it the Mexican place in the mall and have fajitas, chips and salsa and cervezas for another $30.
Drive across town to the Putt Putt place and a round of golf is $4 each.
less than $50, we had a great night out.
