i love this truck

i love this truck. the only thing i wish i had was an overdrive tranny! 4.10 grars and a 727. i cant go any faster than 70 mph. (not that i need to). even with the 35's. wish the P/O would have left the 3.07's in.

If you had 4.10s I doubt you'd be going 70mph.

Sleeper cab

I like your sleeper cab. Like you, I do not have an extended cab. Did you cut out the back of the cab for access or just crawl through the back window? Where did you get yours from?

bgilbert,

70 mph is all i can get to! and the P/O told me that he had 4.10's put in, plus theres a bill from the shop where they were done at. and you gatta think, i am running 35" tires. what, no complements on my truck?

limitedslip,

no, theres no cutting of the cab. it mounts on the bed rails. i remove the window for accsess. i have a rubber boot that hooks onto the sleeper and presses up agianst the the cab to keep the rain out. it makes for a lot more room. its made my Stockman. i dont know if they still make them, but i have seen them around. mainly in the northwest. theres anothere company that dose the conversion where they cut out the back of the cab. but it runs about $3500.00. heres the link.

Oh, yeah, it looks great, forgot to add that. I had one identical to it, a 91, traded it for my crew cab.

If you go to www.randysringandpinion.com and punch in your numbers on the calculator you'll see 3.07's, 35's, 1:1 trans, 70mph= 2118rpm. 4.10's and that = 2800rpm. Do you have a 3200rpm gov spring, or adjusted your high idle screw? I guess you could still turn 2800rpm stock, but it would sure take awhile to get to 70mph, I bet it falls on it's face from 55-70 eh? Also you have to swap out the whole axle to change from 3.07's to 3.54 or 4.10's. It's not just a ring and pinion swap, whole axle assembly.

Sorry for the pissing match, I don't mean to hijack. It is a sweet looking ride, love the sleeper big time.

I thought that was Frdneck's truck with different wheels at first. Gotta love the 2-tone trucks, they are the best.
