Parts Truck Recovery
Parts Truck Recovery
Yesterday morning at 04:30 I was on the road headed for Bend, Or to pick the parts truck I purchased a couple of weeks ago.
Overall the trip was uneventful except I am guessing the torque convertor needs to be replaced due to serious slippage. Once I had the truck loaded it had a tendency to run on the hot side on any hill climb. The temps were in the 90s - 100s on our route and at one point on the way home I had to pull over 1/2 way up a long hill and let the truck fast idle until the engine temp got back down. We were running heater to help cool the truck down a little and on the return trip the drivers window decided to quit working with it open about 1.5"
Needless to say it was a hot ride. Since the temp in Yakima was supposed to be 105 deg we decided to head West along the Columbia river and run North up I-5 instead of going up 97 to I-90. The return trip was w/o OD the entire time, but the truck ran great aside from the heat issue when pulling hills.
Once we got to Vancouver, Wa where the temp was in the 80s the truck never ran on the warm side for the duration of the trip, but then there are not really any serious grades going up I-5 from Vancouver. Pulled in the last night driveway around 22:00.
Looking forward to the 5 speed.
Here are some pics of the trip....
