Parted truck/ Hanging Motor Question

Going to look at a 93 2wd with the 5sp removed and gone. The caretaker does not think the motor is tied up at all. Thinks the fan is removed, so hopefully the shrould is okay. How well does the motor hang on the mounts only?

What all can get bent and broke in this instance? It would have to be hauled 150 miles. Any quick ways of tieing it up?

Thanks,
Troy.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Wedge a board under front of engine and a strap to hold up someway. If supports are good it may ride fine but not sure. Don't want a break up.

I was thinking, will it wedge into the firewall and stop there?

Take a couple ratchet straps and figure it out when you get there.

They hang off the mounts pretty well, I hauled one, but it was only 5 miles and not 150 miles.

They tend to be rear heavy, so I would run a strap right under the oil pan and catch the top lip of each frame rail with the hooks and tighten it up.

Bought it and hauled it home. Looked to be resting on the firewall okay so I will look at it in the daylight and check for more damage. The truck is a little rough so I could not hurt too much. Maybe the exhaust was holding it some? ha ha

As a bonus, the 5sp was gone, but the starter, adapter and bellhousing are still there.

It is a '91 intercooled 2wd. Why is it EVERY truck I find needs a left front corner??????????

Well I unloaded it today and guesss what rode home on the front of the valve cover? The two clips that hold the rad. shroud on!

The turbo looks okay, but the pipe is pretty solid. The fan is missing. not a bad day.

PS: Found a big visegrip in the motor compartment.

Now to see if it runs......may not try as the clutch is there, but no shaft holding it in the center.

Either pull the pressure plate and disk or bypass the clutch/starter interlock and don't release it.

I think pulling it off may be better on this one, hate to ruin it all by accident. Been sitting at least 2 years as is.
