Well while I was under the truck the other day I noticed something hanging out of the flywheel cover, I forgot about it and went on. Well while I was under it today adjusting some clamps, I tugged on it, it came out, and it looks like half of a rear main seal!! its rear rubbery n spongy like though. But it looks like a half moon, and obviously didnt just get picked up off the road somewhere!

I did notice twice while I was warming up the truck before work one night somethng was squeling quite loudly, kind of like a belt, but as soon as I steped on the clutch and let off it went away. It hasent done it recently so im baffled.

Could it be a piece from a sealed bearing on the throwout bearing for the clutch? Just a thought since you had the squeeling with clutch play. You'ld know it for sure if the rear main came out...oil slick on the road!!

lol, yeah, for 330K miles it really doesnt seem to use oil so a rear main deffinatly isnt it. I just kinda used that as a image to give ya'll an idea of the size of it. It is quite large probably (from memory now) between 2-4 inches in diameter if it was a complete circle, but its only 1/2 of one. I'll go out n put er on the ramps n see if its a possiblity to pull the cover, n get it back on before 11. I dispatch at 1 so I dont get a whole lotta time today. I'll post back later.
If I should find something bad, that requires tranny removal what should I replace??? I already got a Luk stock upgrade price for $225 from Fleetpride ( W/ customer discount too. gotta love perks of my job) Thanks guys!

Did i mention this is my first manual tranny too?? hehehe, I guess it'll take me a we bit more then an hour to "pull the flywheel cover"
I took a picture of the rubber thingy and added it to a new album on my webpage. Let me know what ya'll think.

It really does look like a corner from the clutch fork boot.

I looked at it also. The fork boot would be my vote also. It may be a piece from the inside flange if it's the type that's made that way you could just slip it out and take a look and if it is then just slip it back in and don't worry about it. Also, if the PO replaced the boot he could have lost a chunk inside the housing and didn't worry about it either.
