Was paid a nice compliment.

I was running up a busy street in Newport News today and a fellow in a Lincoln rolled his window down and asked how I had the truck set up. He wanted to know if I was running Banks Computers and other stuff. Of course I smiled and explained that there wasn't an engine management computer and gave a quick overview of what I had done. He said that it sure ran clean. No smoke. I had just finished taking another turn out of the fuel screw and got my EGT's down to a controllable level. I added another 1/32 of timing and left the smoke screw all the way up and the AFC spring as tight as I can without binding. I simply thanked him and remarked that at $3.15 a gallon I couldn't afford to make smoke. And it is still fun to drive.

$3.75!!!!!!!! Here in southeast Iowa it's $3.00-$3.15 a gallon. I sure hope we don't see that crazy price around here. Looking at the news it looks that we might though.

Better watch it, or the will stuff this thread in the Fuel forum!

Way to go Boatnik! We have our fans out there!

I got a compliment the other day as well, pulled into my Grandmas house and the guy across the street had the hood of his Peterbuilt up looking at something with a freind, with the muffler gone they sure noticed as I came rolling down the street. They poked their heads out and said " awesome truck, I like it, allot. Sounds like a big rig coming down!" "I smiled and said nothing beats an uncorked cummins!" they agreed and laughed with approval! How sweet it is!!

These trucks are timeless, they have the potential of becoming great American classics! And people notice them, Shame on anyone he sends one to the junk yard or crusher, (But it will make mine more valuable I guess )

I had a guy on a Harley follow me home from work one day last spring. Scared the cr@p outta me. Was standing by the driver's door in the garage ready to reach for the Sig when he walked up. He wanted to buy it!

It is hard to change programing. TV has always painted the Harley owner/rider as a villian. That has changed for the most part to retirees, doctors, school teachers etc. The image is still there even though the average income of a Harley owner is way above the national average.

Now back to the original post. I dispise politics and politicians. However they do make the laws of the land and can make our lives quite more complex and expensive. Right now there is a growing awareness of air polution and the precieved affects that it plays on the environment whether you agree or not. I like a good smoke show as well as anyone on this forum but the time has come to be concerned with where we do it and who we dump on in the process. The new environmental restrictions are pretty hard. I for one do not want to add fuel to the fire. I am going to Drive clean, Play smart.

Totally agree. That's what I thought, maybe I had not seen the guy and inadvertently smoked him or cut him off or something.
