Question P.O.D.s and a timing bump???

I want to put those prince of darkness injectors in my truck but I've heard they really raised your EGTs especially on a grade. But I heard that if u bump ur timing up that solves that problem. If that's tha case can anybody give some advice on how much to bump the timing? All help is appreciated

PODs are a good cheap power maker, people say they run dirty and smoke like crazy but it is controlled by your right foot just by anything else. I've loved mine and my turbo will clean them up nicely. They will run a little hotter than stock, and I have heard the POD's love more timing, which I think they do too. I have my pump advanced a tooth and like it. Just a timing bump will help though, but a turbo is gonna help the most in the egt department

the gear that runs the pump (behind the front cover) is advanced a tooth on the cam gear which it runs off of. So it has more timing, right now I have it advanced a tooth and then rotated the pump down past the factory marks and retarded it for daily driving and can rotate it back up for some more power if i need. Just Bump your timing up for now, and you can worry about advancing it a tooth later.

Yes you should have an egt and a boost gauge before you add fuel

YES get an EGT and boost gauge first. I had PODs in my 93 and it really woke the truck up.

yes don't even turn up the truck or think about puttin injectors in til you get gauges. Its like driving in the dark with no lights without gauges. Glowshift sells a 3 in 1 gauge for pretty cheap that most people have liked. Just about a 1/8" or 3/16" bump up from the factory mark oughta help.

no they only make a single and dual pillar pod for our trucks. Some people have put the single under or on top of the dual to look like a triple though.

For $450 (not much more than PODs which are 4x.014s) you can get a set of 5x.010s or 5x.012s from Low Budget Diesel Performance. These guys were trained by the best injector guy around, Weston. A set of either of those would really wake up your truck and they'll run cleaner than the PODs.

I've got me a set of their 5x.012s coming to me.

A friend of mine here made a couple custom 4-gauge pillar pods out of fiberglass and has one in his truck. Soot4brains is his username here. He might have pics of the pod in his gallery.
