Overfill of manual & overheating/foaming?

Within the last week I came across a warning in one of my (many) manuals (don't ask me which one!) concerning overfilling of the differential(s) & was just wondering why the same warning wouldn't apply to the manual tranny. Warning specifically stated that overfilling of the differential(s) could cause overheating & foaming.

TIA.

And so it will. However, the fill plug in the Getrag is too low for the angle at which the transmission is being operated with the CTD, so adding the extra oil in this application is appropriate.

Most good diffrential oils and all engine oils have good antifoam additives in them. If you stick to good quality oils for both applications, you shouldn't have to worry about foaming.

Since the Getrag specifies engine grade oil (5W30), the antifoam agents will keep the oil foam free with the limited amount of circulation and low temperatures.
