ooooops

i just got around to puttin my borgensin steering shart in and i put it in with no problems till i got to the set screw.(some of you might see were im goin with this) and well i though heck ill just drill that out. and so i got it to leak like a civ, and i tried to weld it shut that worked and then i was happy till i fired it back up then i noticed that the shart seal was leakin so im going to go junk yard hutin to find a new steering box

I remember reading a thread not too long ago from a guy who did the same thing.. Saved my butt when I put mine on last week, or I would have probibly done the same thing...

At least you have something good to look forward to, it is a VERY nice upgrade

Those shafts do come with directions!! But I know, were guys and we don't need no sticking directions!!

um just so you know, its a steering SHAFT, not a shart the funny thing is you put it twice okay okay im done teasing. hope you fix

you know that is the sad thing, in the directions it says (this is what i was told) to drill a dimple for the set screw. But if you read the how-to in the "sticky" it says in RED letters that you have to be careful when doing this.

You probably melted the seal welding too close.

I was welding an electric motor the other day and I had the ground clamp connected in the wrong place, the juice followed the ground wire on the motor and melted all the insulation off the wire

Always stop welding when you smell plastic burning...

Shaft is hollow. Drill more than a "dimple" and you have a hole that leaks like a sieve (or civ in this case ).
