OK, so I drove a Third Gen today...
eclipsing 450rwhp with a 3rd gen is PAINFULLY easy... watched a near-stock truck do 480rwhp w/ just a programmer!
putting together a VERY drivable 600rwhp combo is painfully easy compared to trying to get the same out of a 12v
I want a single cab 2wd auto

I will take a underpowered
1st gen engine or 2nd over 3rd gen. I know 3rd gens make crazy hp. I don't need a 500hp race truck. I'm a huge fan of K.I.S.S. I had a alternator go bad about 4hrs from home the only thing that stopped us was that our headlight looked like candles. If it where the day time I would of kept on truckin til I got home then worried about the problem. All 5.9 motors are great motors though

So did I. I'm sorry I was not verry impressed. If that was all they could pull out of the venerable 5.9B they can have the 6.7. I just couldn't believe how the owner of the truck thought it was a monster. I have yet to let him drive my truck. Might let him do that tomorrow. Might be a good "pickup" for the wife but I won't trade up or down depending on who you talk to for leather and an extra 12 valves. Jethrro
I agree i have been kicking around the idea of buying a newer truck.. of course i have to have the 98 12v quad 5sp short bed probabbly the rarest dodge cummins ever built... i have test drove a few long beds and a couple autos and man those things are dogs... and the price is crazy ... so since i dont beleive that dodge made a diesel from 98.5-02 then i have to find a 03 or newer so i guess ill just stick with ole reliabile ... look at it this way make 650.00+truck payments a month or spend 650.00 every few months on your first gen and have the perfect truck!!
