Oil plug?

I have oil dripping around my oil pan plug. I tighten it and that seem to stop the leak. It started up again, does anyone have a part number for the washer that goes on this? Cummins part #, I'm guessing it's a crush washer.

Unless it's untaxed, then it's red.

I thought that was a Cummins design feature. Auto- frame- anti- rust. Mine drips too.

Check the hardware stores. I'v seen copper washers at hardware stores and at a farm and home supply store.

Although hardly anyone ever does it, the drain-plug washer on ANY engine is supposed to be replaced at every oil-change.

I have replaced the drain-plugs on all of my engines with FUMOTO valves and no longer have any of those issues.

I had wanted the Fumotos for quite some time, but they had always seemed more of a could-do-without luxury than a necessity.

Then, after personally witnessing no less than three different people on various vehicles who had that drain-plug reinforcing threaded-washer to break loose inside the oil-pan, necessitating removal of the pan to repair, I decided they were no longer a luxury, but a common sense way to avoid such problems.

hey-Hey!!!,
It isn't so much replace the 18mm crush washer/seal, it is aneal it prior to squishing it again. Hang it from a bit of welding rod over the edge of the table and heat it red-hot. Drop immediately into cold diet pepsi( leaves the finish cleaner than jus' cold water ). Probably 3-4 times per washer will leave them deformed enough that even we'd replace it.
cheers,
Douglas

I just buy a pack of 18mm crush gaskets from my local ap supply, and change them each time.

No leaks ever.
