Oil leak?
Oil leak?
Have a small engine oil leak ( fresh Amsoil so can't afford to lose any
) at the vac pump to gear housing gasket. I am hoping to loosen the bolts a tad clean up the mating surfaces, slap on some "right stuff" and bolt back up...sound logical? How far can I pull the vac/power steering pump back to squeeze some gasket sealant in there? Are the mount bolts through holes into the case?...can oil wick up the threads...is sealant required?..I checked the bolts...they were tight.
TIA

Craig, the bolts are studs built into the gear housing that hold the vac/pwr steering pump on. It is fairly simple to unbolt the unit. In fact, if you are going to loosen it off....I would go ahead and just take it all the way out so you know for sure that you get a good seal with the sealant.
