Odometer/tripmeter
Odometer/tripmeter
My odometer/tripmeter stopped working but the speedometer was still working, so I pulled the unit apart hoping to find striped gears but they were good. I had a cluster out of an '88 or '89 Daytona and thought if the circuit cards were the same I would use that one. Physically they are the same shape but the components and paths were different.
The boards were both made by VDO so I was hoping they performed the same function, I figured I didn't have anything to lose so I swapped the boards wire for wire, position for position. I just took it out down the streetand it appears to work, speedo and odometer/tripmeter.
I know this is no way to march into battle, but it may be an option.
That's the Daytona parts in the pic, but the truck parts are very similar.

Sorry fellas, but after a highway trip today although the odo and tripmeter work it seems my speedometer is now 20mph low at 2000rpm which should be about 62mph. It seems I traded one problem for another.
