Boost numbers.

Ok Ive got a s300 62/71/14 and 6x.016s..My gauge is hitting about 23psi of boost and it takes awhile for the turbo to light..Yesterday I put on new intercooler boots and cleaned my air filter. Why are my numbers so low? Ezra.

Got a lot of smoke at 23 psi?
Maybe the wastegate is set way too low?
Pull the hose off the actuator and plug it with a bolt.

Has the boost numbers changed since you put new IC boots on? Up or down?

If it's not a charge air leak, it could be injection pump not putting out the fuel, or injectors are set to high.

I doubt this has anything to do with the problem, but I know you have a stock auto, so could the tranny have anything to do with this? Again, I'm new to all this, but trying to help.

You should be rolling A-LOT of coal at only 23psi and 6-16's. I dont think the WG is the only problem as your EGT's should be at like 2000deg at that boost level. If you are only running the stock lift pump or even a piston pump with stock fuel lines it may be possible the IP is running low on fuel. On my truck even with the 64/71/14 on a 1/4 mile pass I can hit 1600deg and 50psi. What kind of fuel pressure are you getting at WOT? As mentioned above plug your line to the WG and then check to see if boost increases. If it doesnt then make sure your WG shaft is not stuck against the oil drain. If that all seems good then confirm fuel pressure at the IP. That should give you a good place to start.

I would agree. I only have my stock sticks and I was having boost issues due to a low flowing intercooler. I could hit 22 pounds and with my stock sticks and lift pump I could hit 15 to 1600 degrees easy. Those 6 x 16's should melt your engine at that boost level.

So thats the difference in the 2nd gen injectors, higher pop pressures?

I have smaller sticks than you with the same turbo and hit 52PSI. I am thinking injection pump, what kind of mods have you made to it?

My vote is for lack of fuel somewhere along the line. Mom's truck with stock sticks, and a stock auto hits about the same boost/EGT, with decent fuel pressure from the stock lift pump.

Check fuel pressure after the filter. With a piston pump, you should see mid teens.

Pop test the injectors. If above 3600psi, have them reset to 34-3500psi. That is the stock range, and at that pressure, atomization is less of an issue than pump output pressure. They wont atomize any better at 38-4000psi than at 3500, yet they seem to save the pump at the lower pressure.

I have the 1stgen piston-lift pump..And it does roal a ton of coal, see Video I posted last week.as far as the pump mods go its a Industrial injection performance-ve with 3200spring.But I belive it is only tuned to max bosch spec's..I do not have a fuel pressure gauge.Ezra
