odometer lies

My truck's odometer turned over to 250,000 today. which is nowhere near what the truck has on it. but after it turned over we went 3 more miles before it turned over to 250,001.My wife told me that she has been catching my truck cheating on it's mileage for a while, but I told her she was loony.well, now I know why I get such poor fuel milleage.has anyone else caught their truck's lying to them.

Yes mine has don the same thing but has now quit entirely at least for the last week it hasn't worked. Speedo still works fine just the odo quit. I was told it was a gear in the guage but have yet to tear into it.

Mine lied for a long while too until it and the speedo quit. I replaced the adapter on the transfer case, the one between the pinion and distance sensor. I think it was around $70 from the dealer. That fixed it for a while. When it quit the second time I took the dash apart and cleaned the three connectors behind the speed gauge and it has worked ever since. Hope this helped

I really don't know what you are complaining about. Mine hasn't moved off 167,405 since I bought it. You won't believe the milage I'm getting. Why last week I pulled into the Supreme Station and had to off load fuel to keep the tank from overflowing. NOT!

The speedo works but not the 'O'.

If anyone has a working Speedo/Odo cluster for sale, I just might be interested.

That's part of it. The rest of it is probably dangling from the wires somewhere.

Mine did the same thing. Still doing it intermitently. Hit a hard bump and it's off for a bit. Sometimes it comes back on if I tap the glass or reset the trip.

I had the cluster all out, it wasn't a gear. The odeometer is run off an electrical current just like the speedo, so i assume it's an electrical issue. Can't find it yet though.
