non IC radiator

Hey guys,

I'm in need of a radiator. The non ICs are hard to find these days. Where have ya'll purchased on from recently and what kind of price. I will live with a cheap quality one if thats all I can find. For comparison, I was quoted $399 for a re-core job from a reputable shop here locally.

I still haven't actually put my radiator to the test when pulling, but if I could trade a bigger radiator for my non-IC one I'd do it!

I have found IC radiators replacements at autozone and advanced auto for around that price. Rockauto has some for a little cheaper. I have to get one soon too, half of my cooling fins are missing

Mine needs one but I think that I am going to go to the ic style crossflow rad. The only downside is you need to get the thermostat housing that turns to the driverside and both new hoses (which I would do anyway if replacing the rad) and the fan shroud. Not to mention, are the mounting points the same.

89D250- I'm not interested in IC radiators, I can find them all day.

getstucksome- thats a lot better deal than I have found, What brand and where did you purchase it from?

free89W350- The mounting is very different, form what I have seen. Also, would it clear your PS intercooler??

I have had no cooling issues with either 89. Do the non i/c radiators usually make things hot?? I am still building my 93 so no data on that one yet. My current 89 does have cracked mounting brackets on the tanks. Got a spare when it gives up.

Like I said, I still haven't put mine to the test, but it really doesn't look very big to me... pretty skinny for a heavy duty radiator.

The non IC radiators cool fine for my usage, and I tow alot. Mine has a hole, and its getting kinda soft from corrosion, thats the only reason I need a new one. I'm not looking for a better radiator, just a replacement. None of my local contacts can get one, and I'm a little leery of buying from an online parts house without recommendation from users here.

I got mine thru carquest. was around 300. But for those wanting a ic one, theres no real differance, water doesnt care which way it flows, if its clean it will cool.

Are we positive that the non I/C radiators don't have a divider down that middle that forces the coolant around the full surface area?

not sure on the brand name, got it at sapps welding and radiators in garner, nc. local shop that I was referred to and ended up having the lowest price. I just shopped around and got a decent deal. It was still expensive though!

Non IC radiators had a dealer installed baffel in the top of the tank to simulate a cross flow rad. if the customer had cooling problems when towing.

The main problem was at higher RPM the water would flow straight down and not spread out in the radiator.

Anyone else know that? I was told it by a lifetime Mopar wrench.

Yep i had heard that. I just haven't had any cooling trouble with mine. I have been running it with a pinhole for over a year, towing, too. I think mine has the baffel in there too.
