no power

hi, so today i tried a simple pump mod, i turned the deepest side of the fuel pin towards the cab of the truck. followed every instruction on the ''fuel pin grind'' sticky and now my truck is completly gutless even when i tried putting it to the floor. in doing that i also found that my truck wont shift into overdrive, and suggestions on whats wrong?

i'd say you have a boost leak going to the afc housing. did you hook up the boost referance line from the head to the afc housing and did you put all the little bolts back in the afc top?

i dont know much about the autos my guess would be the tps needs to be adjusted sice you had to take it off to pull the afc housing top off

i put everything back the way it was before, the first time around when i went to test it to see if it worked i couldnt push the pedal in, so i shut it of and pushed in a little harder and something sounded like it snapped into place then i could depress the pedal again, i dont know what the heck i did, and whats that black box thing with the wires attached to it on the top of the pump that the 89-91.5 trucks dont have? i messed around with that a bit when disasembling the pieces

When I turned my fuel pin around, like the poster above noted, I turned the "deep" side of the cutout so it was facing the front of the motor. Plenty of power at high speed.

Something "snapped into place" ? I'm pretty new with these myself but that doesn't sound good. Maybe one of the experts will chime in here shortly...I would say to check the linkage between the throttle shaft and the cable that goes to your gas pedal, as well as the throttle shaft/ throttle lever assembly, too.

thats the throttle position sensor.

Thats the sidekick of the auto overdrive trans, if that is unadjusted or has a bad connnection, you won't have overdrive

12valve1stgen, Sounds to me like you're not getting full throttle travel or you didn't hook the boost tube back up, maybe the banjo bolt is loose?

Get someone to go inside the truck and put their foot to the floor and make sure the throttle linkage on the inj. pump is coming all the way back and hitting the high idle screw behind it.

is there a torque spec for the banjo bolt on the afc line and maybe for the screws for the cover? just wondering so that i don't run into boost leaks when i mod mine.

Snug is fine. The banjo bolt is fragile and the cover screws thread into fairly thin aluminum.

sweet. i never like to "white-knuckle" anything i tighten. i'm a big fan of finding torque specs before doing any tightening of any kind.
