no boost readings

just got my truck running, after replacing turbo with one from a 95. i also installed pro, tranny temp, and a boost guge. all work well except boost. it doesnt even move.now, ive down some reading, could it be that the wastegate is "open" and not building pressure.with no engine mods yet, the pyro reads 1100. so im thinking that maybe it is suck and not blowin like it should??? any insight would help.

You could have the gauge plumbed wrong or the line micht be pinched or broken etc...

A quick check could be done by putting a cap with an air fitting on the intake of the compressor and pressurizing the system slowly. This should show the boost gauge works or not and you have a reference for accuracy. Be careful though when I did this I had a hard time keeping the cap from sliding off the intake of the turbo and it would go POP! no matter how tight I made the clamp. You can make a cap pressurizer out of some PVC pipe and a rubber pipe coupler from your plumbing supply.

Might sound like a dumb question, but have you driven the truck or are you sitting in the driveway?

Is it a new or used turbo, did you spin the inpeller and see that it was OK? Did you prelube the turbo before starting it? just a few questions.

yeah...my early 91 made no boost while sitting in the driveway. I thought I screwed something up. Took it down the road and it was working fine
