There is no lockup in our converters...you can do a conversion to a lockup system but that is a fairl bit more $$$ and you'll need to control the TC lockup function manually.

When I did my change over to the DTT TC/VB etc I saw about 1.5-2.0 mpg increase.....after the novelty wore off of coures.

pb...

What I actually meant by % of lock-up is the 89% or 91% that you can get from the different manufacturers.at least I assume that these % mean that the tc lock's up to that amount. but I could be wrong.or do these numbers mean the amount of power that is being transfered to the ground?

I must confess to having less than high end detailed knowledge of this stuff...hence the reason I let someone else do the job...but....
It's my understanding that the "%" efficiency is related to the amount of efficiency at a given RPM...RPM like stall speed. So, when at full fluid coupling the TC is "X" % efficient....does that make sense..???

Yes that does make sense. and thank's for the replies. I was kind of hoping to hear that some guy;s got a good pay back from puting in a new tc as far as mileage goes. do you think that after a lot of miles the tc loses efficiency or does it stay with the same power transfer as it had when it was stock. and Marine, did you change your valve body also.

I have the 89% in mine. I was told that if the truck is used for towing, the 91% was not the best choice. The tranny mods were done before the converter was replaced. I don't feel I gained any improvement if mileage but it hooks up a little better. The tranny mods include a shift kit, enlarging some of the holes in the VB, extra discs in the clutch packs to tighten things up, and the line pressure cranked up. I didn't do the tranny work, a friend owns a shop and did it for me. that was three years ago and things have held together good since then.

Timb, the TC should stay the same from day one on.

The DTT TC does give a stronger feel even in the higher RPM's.

Well, you *could* figure out how to run 475 miles north to DTT and have them look it over and advise you. You don't have to buy their solution but their advice could save you money and you'll be out of the guessing game.

Regards, DBF

With one day a week off, 475 miles is a long way's, I got an encouraging pm from Fred Swanson today, and I think that I might just do the trans. build myself. should be a real kick in the pants, if I get it right the first time
