Ha ha just jokin. I put that on just for kicks and giggles and to see what it'd look like. I couldn't even pull in the garage with that thing on! I got a few things from airflo.com this weekend cuz i was wanted a flapper on my hood stack now that winter is comin up. And i wanted a turnout tip too. So i ordered a 5"x 48" turnout stack and cut it in half and used the straight part and put a flapper on it and welded it to a 5" to 4" reducer and clamped it to the 4" elbow. I'm gonna get another reducer and weld the turnout part to that one too so I will have 3 different tips to choose from, the flapper, the mitre, or the turnout.

This new flapper tip is a lot taller than my other mitre tip. The flapper is about 24" tall and the mitre was just a 18" tip. I'm not sure if i like this thing so tall or not? what do you guys think? I can always cut more down if want to so that's why i cut it longer.
Here's a few more pics of the flapper.

What do you guys think? should i cut it down a little more and make it shorter? As soon as i get another reducer then i will post a pic of turnout tip.

The new flapper is a lot quieter than the 18" mitre i had. I think just cuz it's taller and gets the sound up over the cab better. But it is still pretty deep soundin after about 15 lbs of boost. It sounds just like a tractor when its idlin, you can hear the clank clank of the flapper. I'll try and get some pics of it flappin and rollin some coal when i get time. It's pretty fun to watch it flap. I'm easily entertained by watchin it go up and then clank back down.

ha ha I know the 48" stack was ridiculous! i would have to make supports to hold that thing up. I just put it on for a few minutes just for fun. I think i would definately get pulled over if i had that thing pokin out of my hood!

So what do ya think? Is the straight cut with a flapper just the right height or should i cut it down and make it a little shorter? I can't decide

SmokinB, I am curious if your truck is for off road/race use only. Reason I am curious about that is because of a hindrance in driver visibility w/ any sort of stack in front of the windshield. I know here in CA it is a no no to hang those old dice shaped fuzzy ornaments on your rear view mirror, or even mount a gps station suction cup bracket on the windshield, due to the visibility thing. Just curious. Flap sounds cool.

bigragu, here in TN, we're limited to three inch hood scopes, so that should also apply to stacks.

I would just about cut it in half, but that's just me. The flapper is a nice idea though.

Don't really know if its legal, but i have had it for a few months now and haven't been pulled over for it and i've seen a bunch of cops. The 18" mitre tip i had on there before, i could see over, but i can't really see over this one but It doesn't bother me, I'm used to it by now, And i like it. This 24" stack still blows the flame out of it at night when the turbo lights.

I just cut the hole in the hood long enough so it would clear the stack when i open the hood, it works great. The hole is about 6" wide and about 10" or so long.
