new here with a big question/project.

Hey guys I own a 93 5 speed 4wd reg cab with a 6" lift and so on. it has a good amount of mods but has a cracked block. Anyway I can buy a 95 P-pump cheaper then a VE. So for my question is what would be involved in swapping a p-pump into my truck?

In order to get all the pieces as cheaply as possible, most recommend that you buy a complete running motor from a 2nd gen truck.

Easy cheesy, especially if you use a manual fuel shutoff. You would have to replicate the 2 circuit fuel wiring if you want to keep the electric solenoid of the P Pumper.

I would use the shorter 89-93 belt drive and accessories, and of course use the bellhousing adapter, flywheel and starter off your 93.

The fuel filter off the 93 won't fit with the P-pump. but she will have a brand new filter installed for sure. Ive been thinking about that gasket and front rear seals. could I keep the 2nd gen 2wd oil pan?

Should be able to.

I would also upgrade the fuel lines to either 3/8" or even better 1/2". The stock 5/16's line is tiny.

Supposedly the whole setup is shorter to fit the shorter 1st gen body. I am pretty sure you can get the 2nd gen in, but it would be tight, plus you would have to remember you have 2nd gen stuff.

That's for a future date but in the plan book for sure. I'm looking for a conservative 300-350 hp tops. So I'm not going over the top I just can get the p-pumper cheaper, it'll be cooler and will be a more reliable pump as I hear they last longer.

Really it all looks identical to my dads 96 except the fan hub is different, I know the blades and clutch are the same pn's as on my 93 now.

I wanna try n keep the motor all 95 and the truck 93 instead of putting some 93 parts on the 95 and keeping other parts 95 specific.

When you get it, measure the distance from the belt back to the front block surface and that will get you the answer. I would like to know the answer if you do, because I an only going from what those supposedly more knowledgeable than I say.

Yea, if you could keep the 2nd gen front it would be nice. The bellhousing adapter and starter will be a requirement to keep unless you swap a NV4500 at the same time though.

I just measured my 93 against dads 96 and they are the exact same distance out so I'm all good there. At this time I'ma set the adapter plate and starter aside for a future date of installing a nv4500.

Thanks for measuring, so the Fan assy is the only thing shorter?

Good call on the adapter plate, flywheel and starter.
