new first genner

I just wanted to say hey to you guys in here. I lost my 94 in a wreck a few weeks ago. I replaced it with a 92 W250. I just got home from the shake down cruise. 650 miles 11 hours North Carolina to Indiana. I went out there to pick it up over the long weekend. So far everything is great. I need to do a few things such as new brakes and motor mounts etc...etc...etc. But the best thing about it is that it is paid for so all my money (not much) can go to the truck not the bank.
I'm sure I will have a few questions for you guy later. Just wanted to say hey.

Welcome! Ain't it grand to have a truck that's paid for? I figure even if something that costs $300 breaks every month, I'm still doing OK. Beats payments any day. So far nothing but $900 to freshen up the front suspension and a $140 starter in a year and a half. Not bad so far.

Thanks for the welcome, I really like the style that the older trucks have. I've had a few of the older civilian Power wagons 64 and a 65. Now those were trucks.
I'm getting ready to do a complete brake rebuild. I will also be doing some work on the interior. That's really all she needs now.

Brake rebuild

Mudcat,

Since you're planning to rebuild the brakes, have you looked into upgrading the rear brakes to the shoes and wheel cylinders used by the 1 ton trucks? I haven't done it yet myself but plan to when the time for new rear brakes comes. Just a thought to consider if you hadn't already looked into it.

12valve@heart, yes I plan on doing the 3" rear shoe and 1 1/8" wheel cylinders too. I am still looking for some upgraded front brakes, but I'm not having much luck.
