Question New to first gen

Hey guys! I am in the market for a Cummins and I know about the second generations, but I am not familiar with the first gen's. Could y'all tell me about them, or point me in the right direction? What axles, gears, trannies, x-fer cases, etc... did the 91-93 trucks come with. Also any common problems to look for when I go to look at one. Here is one I hope to look at this weekend. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=85

I like the 91 to 93 myself, Get a intercooled engine, 4x4 or 2wd thats up to u. The ex cabs have more comfort and ride due to the wheel base. The stock 5 speeds are not as good as the nv4500's the autos are good. Engine upgrades are easy and cheaper the most diesel. Good to have u here.

This is a nice-looking pickup and not a bad price compared to what they go for on eBay, although I don't see the miles specified. The Club Cab and 5-speed make it pretty desirable. I'd jump on it if it's as good as it looks in the picture--just my opinion.
It probably has the Getrag 360 transmission which a lot of people don't like, but mine has 262,000 miles on it and is still smooth and quiet, no problems. I didn't let it scare me away from buying my '93, which has the NP205 transfer case, Dana 60 front and Dana 70 rear axle, and I assume those would be the same in a '92. A lot of them had the 3.54 ratio; some had 4.10s. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!
A lot of these first gens have cracks in their cowls which will make annoying squeaking noises seeming to come from up under the dash--do a search on here and you'll come up with a lot of info, and there's a "sticky" article about it, too. Also there were some wiring issues but other than some intermittent grounding out of my crank sensor wiring, I haven't had any wiring problems.

Looks like a nice clean truck! Not sure about the "passenger airbag" and "rear window defroster." Someone was dedicated to customizing.

Looks like a nice truck. Give it a good drive and bring a creeper and crawl under it. Look to see if they kept up on the greasing of everything down there. check out the Ujoints, king pins, steering linkage, etc. look at the floor pans as well for rust. Little stuff down there can add up and give you baragining room if you find it before you buy.

wow, that is truely a beautiful truck!
I have driven MANY different vehicles over the years, several being trucks. I just cant get enough of my 1st Gen. I have a good friend that has a factory decked out 01 3500 6 speed HO. I prefer my 93 over that truck anyday of the week. Granted the creature comforts like his 6 way power & heated leather seats, I dont have. But these are just the old school, rugged, beat it to death and it begs for more TRUCK to have. in my opinion anyway. I would own a fleet of these things if I could!! Either way, "6 in a row makes it go!"
Keep it a cummins whatever u decide!

Talking Not Too Far --- Hmmmm.....

If that truck is still there by noon Monday, I will be surprised.

Everything everybody is looking for and can't find, five-speed, 4x4, extended cab, real slick condition.

I have found out about several, call to get directions, and get "Sorry, too late."

If you want it, you better jump on it.
