never bombed one before....????

ok.... i've owned three going on four cummins motors now, so i guess it's time to build one a little

need some advice from you guys doing this in your own shop. i've asked around and seem to find a lot of people wanting to sell me something, but mostly got discouraged from doing anything on my own ( i guess guys in mechanic shops in town figure the rest of the world is )

that said

i just bought a 91.5 1 ton, srw, le package all stock, except for the flat bed
i fill in cowboy on my taxes for occupation and live in the nw corner of colorado, so i'm always pulling a trailer full of horses either up a good grade or trying to outrun it down one.

looking into turning up the pump and possibly a different turbo. been told everything from buy a metering plate to leave pump alone and just get injectors and a new turbo for same effect.

this is making me crazy....this was suppose to be fun. i have access to a pretty good shop or two and most of this stuff sounds in my realm. if you fellas could point me in the right dierction my truck will love you forever.

Spend $300 in gauges. Pyro and boost are a must. Then turn up the pump and get a 12cm turbo housing and a stage III compressor. That should do the trick. Also, if ya need more (yea right but the slope is like a 45* angle and has oil spilled all over it. Try to get back up, you'll see) try getting some bosch 190 injectors. From what I hear the injectors are good for towing and have less smoke than PODS. Good luck and listen to the big dogs here. I am not one of them, just a innocent bystander

Jon

EDIT: OH! Get a BAHF and upgrade to at least a 4" exhuast

First gauges, then do your pump mods,,its free and nice differance. If you want a turbo go to hypertec and get a hybrid, they offer your turbo with 40 compressor wheel and 16 ex housing for around 700 i think. And 4 inch exhaust is a nice idea then grab W/M inj and your running up a hill faster than the fords.

You should be able to pick up a used HX-35 for around $300, look in the classifieds on here, its where I got mine.

Do the following and you'll have a truck thats a heck of a lot better than stock

-Gauges!
-4" exhaust
-pump mods
-a set of good injectors (I hear DDP makes some real nice sticks for our trucks)
-Piston lift pump
-A turbo to support the added fuel for injectors, I don't think an HX-35 will keep it cool enough.
-BHAF

Remember, you're heading down an 85* slope covered in ice, there is no going back

I can't believe you guys forgot to tell him about the 3200 RPM spring. That's a must for a workin' truck.

Rubberduck, with big injectors an HX-35 or a hybrid ain't gonna cut it. Figure on an HTB2 to keep anything bigger than stock cool while towing.
