need some suggestions on shocks

Well my stock shocks (yes 309,000kms on the factory shocks ) are shot and I need new ones. I was looking at a few companies and I'm starting to like the Rancho RS5000 series. Seems to be an affordable but decent shock. Also I'm looking at the Pro-Comp ES3000. My cousin had a set and he loved them.

Any other suggestions? I'm leaning towards something thats half-a$$ed offroad but will still give me a decent ride on the highway and in town.

thanks

I have always liked Monroe Magnums for a decent priced truck shock. Can get them at Napa I know.

The RS5000's were not stout enough for my '99. I went to the RS9000's and have been well satisfied. A little more $$$ then the 5000's, but they are adjustable.

For a stock replacement just get a good gas charged shock, like the monroe, but get the more expensive ones, not the elcheapo's. Also the rancho's really aren't a great shock for on road they are ok for an off road jeep especially if you need a special length or a long shock for cheap.

For the money es3000 s are great, and have a life time warranty, if you can afford it though I would go with the rancho rs 9000 s. The rs5000 s and the es3000 s are about the same. procomp built the es3000s to compeat agenst rancho RS5000S . as for others like sense a tracs , they are a great street shock but are easly over come off road.

I chose the Bilstein 5100's on my 93 W-250 when I lifted it 4 inches. I have run the Rancho 5000's, 9000's on my 2nd Gen and even the high-end Fox Racing shocks KORE sells on my 3rd gen. I like the performance of the Bilstein 5100, and it has a lifetime warranty as well.

Just another option. BTW, they run a little more than the Rancho 9000.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I'm running the front on the 5 setting and the rear on 1, and the truck rides much better then the stock shocks. JMHO

Sorry I should have specified the rs5000's, the rs9000's are great more money than I would want to spend but it is nice to have the adjustability.

Also I have never heard anything bad about the bilstiens.

Let's keep the shock comparison to the same vehicle years. The coil fronts respond much differently than the leaf fronts.

The old 9000's on 3 and the newer ones on 5 are almost exactly the same as the 5000's.
Where they tend to fade is when worked very hard, like pushing it on a washboard road at speed.
