Need a little help from the experts!

Hi everyone, I know this is a diesel forum, but I figure its probably the best place to get help. Ive searched all over and cant find any solid info on my truck. Its a retired air force truck from Utah. The guy I bought it from said it was a 1Ton single wheel. However on the title it says its a D250. So my questions are, do you recognize the running gear? Since im going to make this my pipeline truck, I want to make it a dually. Is it as simple as buying dually studs and wheels and installing them on this axle, and if it is, is this axle capable? I appreciate the help!

A D250 is a 3/4 ton, not a 1 ton. Sense it is a gasser it has a Dana 60 axle. I believe the 70 was used in the single rear wheel 1 ton models and the 80 was used in the duallies.

I was told that Dodge would put 1ton gear under 3/4T's, if the customer requested it I was curious if they did that with this truck. I cant find anything stamped on the housing to tell me if its a 60, or 70.

Thats a 9 1/4" corperate axle. Its close to the same strength as a 60. But they are noted for pinion bearing problems.

If you listen close to any gasser Dodge trucks/ Vans on the road. If you hear a singing rear axle. Its a 9 1/4.

Definitely not a 9 1/4, for one thing it's full floating, two it has a Dana60/70 cover.

I looked up pics of the 60 and 70, and they look the same to me. They say theres a casting mark to the left of the right axle tube, just on the housing. Cant find it. Im in the process of sanding it and painting. Yesterday I rhino lined the rear of the cab, painted the frame a little more, and installed a leveling kit. It has 83,XXX mi.
