Yep, according to the manual that is normal. (Below 50 degrees, I think?)

Then again, according to the manual you're also supposed to start it with the accelerator half way depressed... Haven't been able to figure that one out yet.

Actually, how does the truck know that it's below 50 degrees? Where's the sensor?

In the intake, tells the PCM to fire up the intake heaters.

I've never started my truck with the pedal halfway down or depressed at all. The VE pump is at full throttle when it's stopped anyway. The govenor turns it back when it gets going.

What about pre-91.5? They lack a PCM, but still do not have that light unless it is below ~50 degrees.

The 90 just started (the light) turning on for some resone. I just have always listen for the heater to shut off ,cause nothing bout these trucks is quiete .

I really do wonder why mopar wanted the pedal down, as if the cloud of smoke wasn't an indication that its getting enough fuel.

I dont havea wait to start light. My intake heater is on a toggle switch and if i think i need to use the intake heater i flip the switvh and hold for about 20-30 sec and start 'er up. and there is no way im putting my foot half way into it when i start mine. it already has a high enough redline. supposed to be a high idle for the tractor that it was in around 4000. dont think i wanna see that anytime soon.
