My idea on replacing the Dodge blower motor with a GM Unit

Well after Jim Lanes great thread on how to replace the Dodge blower motor with a GM unit, I decided I would do this upgrade as well. While mine is not quite as indepth as Jim's, it worked out quite well I think.

So first off you have your original dodge unit. I had a spare since I had done the re/re on the spare Heater, A/C unit.

Then I cut off the original mounting ring...

I then had to notch and trim the mounting ring to clear the hump on the inside of the new motor...the hump is where the power line runs out form the motor.

Here you can see the hump the old ring had to clear...

Then I made sure to position the motor so the vent tube lined up with the stock location. And then had to trim the new motors mounting ring to clear the rubber isolator/seal. Once that was done I spot welded the two together.

It was great that the new GM motor had a bunch of small holes in the mounting ring...I was able to tack weld through each of these.

And then the fan installed in the spare front cover I was using for alignment purposes.

I then cut off the original wiring from the old dodge motor so i could wire it up to plug in to the stock harness.

Maybe you should sell these !! I want one. Wouldn't take much to make a paper template for that ring and cut out some metal flanges :P
