Mopar fuel sending unit with AirDog?
Hey fellas, need a little help for my old man. He as an 02 that we put an airdog on. Shortly afterwards the fuel gauge went on strike. Show roughly 3/4 tank when almost empty. I know about the fuel sending unit and called up the dealer to get one. Was told that the reason its not working is cause of the aftermarket fuel pump, the fuel sending unit will only work with the factory mopar pump.
Just want to verify if this is correct info. If not I will order one today but guess who it wont be with.
Thanks in advance.

IIRC the fuel system on an 02 is the same as on my 01. With the possible exception of the intank pump retrofit from warranty work on the stock lift pump. The fuel sender is known to be problematic as you are aware. I have replaced several on my own truck and I am not using the stock lift pump. On my 01 there is no connection whatsoever between the lift pump and fuel sending unit. Even with the intank pump retrofit I dont think there is any connection either. Nor have I ever heard anything like this before. I say the dealer is mistaken.
I recently installed a vulcan drawstraw and airdog 100 into my 02, I removed the old in tank pump and re-installed the fuel canister with fuel level sending unit, the fuel gauge is working as normal. I would say the dealer is full of BS.

Take it apart. Chances are, the pivot pin has come partway out of the float assembly, causing it to bind.
Cheap and easy fix really, once you get in there, you'll see what you have to do.

Dealer is full of it. Just replace the sending unit (float) mine was either $68 or $78 dollars from the dealer. Just loosen the bolts holding the tank straps on, reach up there and disconnect the fuel and electrical line, then finish dropping the tank. Twist off the rather large plastic twist cap and lift straight up. Replace the float assembly, then the hardest part is replacing that large plastic twist ring . Once it's back on, jack the tank up and if you can hook up your electrical and fuel line first go for it. I think I had to start the nuts on the straps holding the tank first (can't remember the exact step) tighten up the straps and your good to go.
Or, if you have the area and means, lift the bed up and forget dropping the tank. I dropped the tank, used my motorcycle jack it worked well under the tank, but a regular floor jack with 2x4 across it and two sets of hands would be just as good. Make sure your tank is on empty or near empty. Probably to much information, sorry.
