Fuel sending unit? Low fuel sender or bulb?
Fuel sending unit? Low fuel light sender?
Well last night my truck just died as I was pulling into the driveway. I figure it was the lift pump even though there was good fuel pressure when it happened. I did the key on off thing and no codes.
So, I take this opportunity to install the FASS and Draw Straw that I have had for awhile and was putting off. Hey, I can't figure out why it won't start, so might as well.
After I pull the tank and the fuel canister out I notice there is hardly any fuel at all in the tank. The gauge was reading a little more than an 1/8 tank and the light had yet to come on. I am thinking I just ran out of fuel. Is there a way to test the low fuel warning light? Perhaps the bulb is burned out and I actually was lower than I thought? I would like to test the bulb, the fuel light, and the sending unit before I put all of this back together in case it is the sending unit. Any tips or ideas? I am going to read the manual and see what I can come up with. The low fuel warning sender is the only thing I am not sure of. Is this separate from the sending unit itself?

OK, well the bulb is still good b/c it comes on when I turn on the key.
So it is either the fuel sending unit or the low fuel light sending unit. Looks like there is a way to test the sending unit so that is next.
Man this upper screen was so deteriorated and nasty that it practically fell apart when I was cutting it out for the Draw Straw. I couldn't believe the amount of crap on that screen.
