i know you have bigger fish to fry and you are going to dink with an extra fuel tank later just wanted to let you know gm in the eighties used dual tanks on there diesels we own several . electric rocker switch on dash and electric solinoid on frame. all ports needed to return diesel to correct tank and also all the elec. switching for the gauge to read correct for which tank you are on. the switch is made by Pollack if i remember right. keep on feeding us i am almost to the fixated state. wish we lived closer i would be there pestering you.

It will all fit in the '75 skin - rad, aftercooler, engine. et all. I did it in my '75 - the looks you get from people while driving around is priceless. Contact me for more info.

Sounds like it's moving right along, Reg!

Any bulkhead connector is prone to failure. Some are better than others but it's a weak point in almost any vehicle older than 7-10 years. You will not be using some of the ignition wires from the gasser engine. In order to kill two birds with one stone you can drill through the bulkhead connector and push a piece of wire through, or sometimes 2 per hole because you're not using an electrical spade connector in that space. Then you can do your wire terminations on the cab side of firewall in a junction block if desired. It eliminates the weak link, solves havng to chop and crimp or solder wires inside engine room, and looks very much like factory wiring!

Hello guys. JimmieD I'm glad your 3.9 cummins is coming along!

I too have a huge box of brass fittings, photos to follow, its super handy as you say! Don't know where I read this post but I thought I would mention it. Did you get the 4 banger fired up yet? Send me pictures.

I have been swamped at work but my 75 Dodge Cummins project is coming alowg, I have wire drawing for the swap built and my other drawings up on the web site under a new link, tech stuff!

More pictures all around, I'm looking at the next open spot in the shop to pull the 92 in and pull out the drivetrain. I have my new parts for the project in the shop.

Stock 75 frame, 92 rad support, new lift pump, alt & starter brushes, water pump, belts, tensioners, brand new from dodge 1992 CTD front springs.

Anyway, I Hope you have yours together or close to. If you were closer to Calgary canada we could have a beer drinking brass fitting sorting night, hee hee.

Hello, thanks for the fuel tank comment, do you know what GW was doing with the switch, transfer, feeding, or ??

I would have to transfer I think from the left and right side tank to the main tank, I have 3 tanks total?

Thanks.

gm had two tanks the valve is built by pollock i believe and the switch up front is a rocker. the valve has all the ports needed to return fuel to the correct tank i think the fuel guage switch is in with the valve . make sure it is for a diesel any early 80s pu.

Well, getting VERY close Reg! Brass fittings post was over at Norm's place, the '61-'71 Dodge Sweptline forums.

My swap is 3.9L Cummins into '67 D-100 Town Wagon. That involves fab custom frame supports boxes and engine mounts, fab custom exhaust, new D-200 front axle w/ steering and brakes, new Eaton Detroit Springs 1,500 lbs front spring packs, rebuilt steering box from Firm Feel, build custom extended steering column, install NV4500 trans [build 2 crosmembers], Dana 1410 U-joints, Tom Woods Custom Driveshaft, 4.1 Dana 60HD rear, coil-over rear shocks, D-200++ rear springs, install 25 gal aluminum fuel tank between rear frame rails, new fuel lines, rewire ALL wiring to custom circuit breaker panel eliminating all bulkhead connectors but lights [change that later to another breaker panel], rebuild cab mounts, fab custom steel tube support structure for floors and seat mounts, replace firewall pieces, front floors, seat area floors with 1/8" plate, repair body damage from 1/2 rolling it and getting rear ended HARD, TWICE [couldn't believe it...], and a whole lot more!

Pics will come later, and hoping to have it running/driving in a couple of days, God willing! Snow slowed me down, working outside..... Next comes one l-o-n-g vacation and who knows, I might drive north with my can of brass fittings and a whole bunch of fresh roasted coffee

Side note: many guys are running 1st Gen 5.9L CTD's in a 7,600 lbs 4x4 trucks with great results. My truck tips the scales at about 4,800 with the 3.9L installed. The 5.9L trucks come out to about 1,280 lbs per liter, mine comes out at 1,230 lbs per liter! Already have 3" exhaust equal to a 4.5" in the big engine, 3200 spring/HTT turbo upgrade [not yet installed] and looking at water/meth and pump tweaks. 2WD has less parasitic drag so it might come out pretty nice....?

CTD rad will fit 1975 D

Well I was wrong the rad does indeed fit under the stock 1975 hood and rad support, as does the shroud. I have updated the site with a bunch of new info for any that are interested in the swap.

Post

Hello all.

News!! due to weather and a sudden customer cancel, my cummins project is top of the list! Tomorrow the project starts, we are pulling the CTD driveline in the morning, right after a quick last Dyno pull in the 92. I will post dyno movies and pic's tomorrow night to my 75 D200 Club Cab 2wd Cummins swap web site.

We are moving all the Cummins warning light panel, od lock out, cruise, into the 75 dash right where the optional tach went in the 75. As for the interiors the 75 has the much higher quality interior, my 75 is an Adventure SE and has all the stainless steel trims, head liner, side panels, nice quality door panels with stainless and wood trim, very classic and classy. The 92 feels like plastic junk inside, the door panels and dash are one piece hard plastic, floor is the oil patch style rubber, etc. Not even in the same class as the Adventure SE. I will post pictures. In fact the sound and feel of the doors closing and the entire truck is much nicer than the 92, maybe a more loaded up 92 would be better but the plastic is too much in this one.

Cheers for now.

thanks for all you input.

Reg

1975 Dodge D200 Club Cab 2wd Cummins swap web site is updated!

News!!

The swap project has started. Today Warren used his 1991 Toyota 4Runner to tow our frozen solid non starting 1 Gen 1992 D250 into the RCTS shop. After lunch at the Dragon Pearl restaurant we arrived back at the shop to start up our now thawed out 1992 D250 Dodge Cummins truck. This next runs on the RCTS Dynojet will be the last miles for the 92 truck with a diesel engine!

slideshow movies and dyno runs up at;

http://web.mac.com/rctscanadainc/

Amazingly the 1992 CTD made more than her rated power at the rear wheels. More amazing an hour later when we took the intake pipe is off and found her turbo wheel is very hard to turn. Any one with feedback on how the 1 generation 12 valve cummins turbo spins is invited to let us know. This does not seem right to me? Watch the video below and let me know what you think.

In any case fantastic power. As we looked at the 1gen 92 on the lift the extent of the rust is very apparent. Poor old truck. I think we will put the 75 360 auto and Dana 60 back into this 92 so she can be our shops dirt truck.
