Moving my injector pump

I'm trying to put in a 3200 rpm spring. I have the 3 pump nuts loose, hand loose. How much pressure does it take to get the pump to move? Right now it is pretty tight not wanting to move unless some pretty good pressure is applied. I don't want to break anything.

Thanks, Tony

Well to do the timing most people use a ratchet strap to move the pump very far, if that answers your question.

If your just doing the spring there is no need to move the pump, but since you have it loose you should bump the timing buy about an 1/8". To bump you want to take a ratchet strap and hook the pump and something solid on the motor and move it up (towards the passenger side).

Make sure you also loosen the 10mm bolt at the rear pump support!

Common sense I know, but make sure you have it marked before trying to move it, for timing purposes.

That is what I forgot, but it will still barely move at all.

Thanks Guys, I had to move the pump, couldn't get the passenger side rear hex nut loose. Still can't get it loose. I have the timing marked, and it is already bumped an 1/8th. All I can get the pump to move is back to stock position. I need it to go more than that.

What will give more low end, stock timing, or advanced timing?

Thanks again, Tony

Loosen that little line on top of the pump too. The little banjo bolt one.

Up Date

I finally got the top of the pump off, and the new spring is ready to install tomorrow. I have a problem though. The fuel line that goes to the front of the pump has got a hole in it. Can this be patched with a rubber fuel line?

Thanks, Tony
