Re:MARINE CAM

No good for road cam. Some have tried and hated it. PDR or DD have good cams.

mark
PDR - Black Sheep Racing

Re:MARINE CAM

But, why? ???

I could be wrong, but I thought the marine cam had more duration, higher lift, and wider lobe separation angles- all of which should make it a great performance cam. In the marine environment, the engine would be subjected to a greater load almost all the time. I would think that such a cam would be optimized to reduce fuel consumption and EGTs as much as possible and still make 300-370hp. True, there is that "endless" coolant supply...

I sure would like to hear from some of the guys that have tried it.

Re:MARINE CAM

The marine cam can be very viable. It takes a few tricks to get it working good, but once you have it right....it is a nice cam.

Don~
Re:MARINE CAM

The lifters in question are called Tappets.
Once you pull the rockers off, the push rods just lift out.
But, before you pull the cam out you have to install wooden
dowels to keep the Tappets from falling into the oil pan.
Next you have to get a special device that follows the cam journal and drop the tappets into it remove them, then
reinstall the new ones one at a time.

And remove the head and a whole bunch of other stuff.......
With all this work and the head off, you might as well have the
block and head o ringed.

--Justin
