tach signal

Hi , can anybody tell me how to check, to see if im getting a signal from my censor for my tach. I have the censor on the dampner.I have a isspro tach, plugged into the factory plug under the dash. One day it started to read high, then it started to bounce, then it stopped working.Id like to check to see if the censor is bad or its the tach.

Re:tach signal

First check the connection on the sensor, just up from the sensor mount. If that is ok, then you may need to check the sensor/damper gap.
On our trucks the gap should be between .049 and .051"
Be sure to use a non-magnetic feeler gauge to do this.
I'm not really sure why, unless it messes up the pickup head in the sensor itself.
After that, check all your connections right back to the gauge itself, including the gauge ground.
That's how I'd start to look for problems on this one cumminzd...

Bob.
