Lug nut torque ?

Hey guys, just picked up a new electric impact gun from Harbor frieght and was wondering what the factory torque #'s are for a 1991.5 truck. I'm running stock rims and nuts with 265/75/16 BFG A/T tires. I'm guna try using this gun then checking its numbers with my glick-type torque wrench. Thanks all, Jeff

105 ft lbs I think. I had a page saved with the numbers for a lot of vehicles but I can't find it now.

I would use something other than your wheels for this, you should never tighten your lugs with an impact wrench. If you are going to loosen an already tight nut, the results will be skewed by rust, bad or damaged thread, etc. etc. . My half inch electric was sold as a 200 ftlb and that is all I needed to know. maybe you could adapt a socket to your wrench and use it directly on the torque wrench. Of course, all of this is my humble opinion. All of that said, I still use an impact wrench to snug them up, but never to tighten, just to save time....Mark

A cordless drill with a 1/2" socket adapter does a good job of spinning the nuts on too.

Thanks guys, didnt plan to use the gun as a final tightening for the lugs, just wondered if it would have the guts to get the lugs off the studs after I have then torqued to the proper specs, sorry I wasnt clearer in my first post. Funny I never thot of using my 19.2 volt drill to speed up the process, thanks again

Just a side note, never throw away any of your nicad batteries that quit charging watch this

I didn't use a welder, but I put 3 batteries in series and this actually brought back 3 of 4 old batteries that I was going to toss, and , as you know, these are not cheap....Mark
