That is a good question. The only thermostats I have been able to find are 180 degrees. I'm a little curious. Why would you want to go lower? The cold start mode doesn't kick off on my truck until I get it above 160 degrees.

The Cummins T'stat worked best in mine, ... the original quit on the "open" mode so I went cheap but that one cycled between min cool and hot for miles, .... Cummins one was physically identical to the original, about four times the price, worked perfectly and came with a sheet warning that other T'stats would cause overheating. Mine didn't but there IS another coolant circuit in the chamber that the Cummins one blocks when necessary that the disk type one couldn't , ... for what it's worth

Don't run a cold thermostat, find the real problem and fix it. Running the engine cold pounds the bearings. A cold thermostat is a crutch, it will eventually overheat anyway.

There is a 160 for marine apps. But you don't want to run your motor below 180 for many good reasons.

It took me three times to get it right. installing a thermostat in a Cummins seems to me to be a little more involved than normal. If everything isn't lined up just right it will drag and cause irratic temperature swings. Make sure the Tstat is located exactly in the middle of the hole in the head before installing the housing. t Also there is a bulletin out that says to check for casting interference prior to installation. Some of the older heads need some clearancing forthe Tstat to work properly. Check the "sticky" for good advice.
