Dealers lowest Price...Sound Fair?

My dad spent a couple hours yesterday trying to haggle with a dealer. He typically caves in under pressure but did not this time. Anyway, here's the dealers lowest price $35,300:

- 2004.5 2500 Cummins 600 with automagic trans
- Larmie Quad Cab
- Leather with two tone (grey in the middle of the seat)
- 4WD with shifter on the floor
- Long Bed
- No navigation system but has 6 CD changer
- Bright Silver with some of the chrome trim pieces (grille, side panels)
- Chrome Clad Steel Wheels...I told him to make sure they put the michelins on it
- Tow package with hitch and mirrors

I told him it's worth $33,000 based on my buddy who bought a 2500 SLT 4WD Cummins HO Quad Cab with cloth for $31,000 just 4 months ago. I can't see the leather and chrome trim worth $4,300 more? Or is it the fact it's the Cummins 600 vs. the HO?

Thanks!

To me thats a good price. For what you described, it would prolly run roughly $40k + here in So CA. I can get a Ford F-250 Super Cab 6.0 similar optioned with an auto trans for pretty much the same price as the Dodge 6 shooter. I haven't made up my mind yet but the Dodge becomes more and more tempting by the day. So we'll see on Wednesday!

Ask the dealer for the invoice sheet... it'll show the base price and cost of each option at invoice. You should pay invoice - rebates for the truck. If you're ordering a new truck you can pay $500 under invoice minus rebates.

Check with Steve White Motors in Hickory North Carolina. Their e-bay manager will price anything in their inventory at invoice less rebate, and less half of the dealer holdback. My 03 msrp was 42,200 and I paid 32,600. If you fly in they will pick you up at the airport and also put you up at a motel for the night if you want. They will also deliver the vehicle for free if you want. Not sure how far they are willing to deliver for free but they would have delivered mine to Illinois if I had wanted. But who wants someone else to put the first 800 miles on their new truck.

Sounds pretty good to me. Mine llisted out at 44700 and purchased it for a shade under 36,000. So it was close to 9K off. That was $1000 below invoice plus rebates plus farmers rebate. Autos are an additional 1000.00 for the tranny, mine has the 6 shooter installed.

Blair

Invoice is close to 10.5 % off plus all rebates.

You don't say where you're located, that makes a difference.

Check it out on any of the good car pricing websites. costcoauto.com works well for me. Input the options, look at the invoice price.

There is a guy in St Louis who does 3% under invoice plus rebates. www.newdodgeorder.com

Update...A week later and the truck was still available he bought it. $35,300 and had them throw on some chrome nerfs and the chrome dodge bug deflector. Look good and sure is quiet (more so than my Ford).

He called a few other dealers before buying it but nobody wanted to match or beat it. Had it been an SLT model he may been able to dicker with other dealers.
