Lowest Exhaust Gas Tempuratures

I am going to be upgrading turbo's real soon. I have narrowed my choice down to a super HX40 or a HE351CW. Which one will give me the lower exhaust temperature?

I am NOT asking about turbo spool up in this thread. I just want to know which will give me the lowest EGT's.

It should be pretty close, they use the same compressor wheel. The exhaust housing differences will be the teller. Why not try both and give us the comparison?

I would love to, but the budget will only allow the purchase of one turbo.

There is and HE351CW and manifold off of an '05 dodge for $400 on Craigslist. Is that a good deal? The HE351CW will have lower temps than my stock H1C, correct? I may just use the 351 to get by 'till I can find a super 40.

I would guess the 351 would be lowest until high rpm and load. At that point the hx40 would cool much better. When I ran a hx40 on my 02 it ran hotter until it fully spooled, but cooled way better at high loads.

Depends on the turbo shape but ya decent. I paid 350 for my turbo. You wont need the manifold.

I figured that but the seller said the manifold came for free (wouldn't come down any without the manifold).

Does the HE351CW have the same exhaust flange (T3?) as our stock turbos?

Yes except the turbo has 2 studs and 2 bolt holes, you have to remove the 2 studs and drill out one size larger for the stock manifold studs to fit through.

It also has an un-divided housing so you need a different manifold gasket, see here:

Aren't the shafts in the hx40 real fragile?

The hx40's that have shafts broken are usually on p-pumped motors, our ve pumps put out less fuel/power so less chance of barking/surging the turbo which means much fewer broken shafts.
