Low Mile First Gen

I stumbled across a 93 W250 on ebay this morning current bid is $18,095. The truck is extremely clean with only 70,728 miles, according to the listing it's all original, except for the paint, which was done to cure our well known paint leprosy. As of right now the listing still has 9 hours left if y'all want to check it out. It's not my truck or I would not be selling it. Needless to say I am watching it because I want to know what it goes for....

With that aside it got me curious as to just how many of us have a low mile truck. I'm out of that equation as mine has just 343K.

The motor in my '85 crew came out of a '90 with only 103,000 miles in a rusted out dump truck.
It had a Cummins tan rebuilt motor under the hood.
The owner said it was replaced under Dodge's Powertrain warrantee, back in the day.
So my guess is it has well under 100,000 on the 12V.
The crew I swapped it in was a rust free OR. State rig with 100,000 on it.
Makes for a pretty low mileage combo.

Do you know if maintenance was done according to time vs. miles? Does the seller have paperwork?

I must be older than dirt. I remember when someone got 100,000 out of something, they usually put a brag sign in the back window. Odometers turned over at 100,000.

I have a couple of sets of good guts. Would be nice to fine a 92 or 93 W250 with a good frame and axles for cheap.

Would be nice to have the description line (exact) or an item number.

It does not state whether they have maintainence records or not, it shows the auto check report has 7 records but I can't justify buying the report just oh of curiosity.

No, that's not allowed. The bit cops will kill it soon.
This works: Item 161344507755,

The truck is pretty, no doubt. I love that color blue..... B-5 ????

anyway,

The undercarriage has about 50 rattle cans of black over the surface rust. There's too much foo foo armorall over everything under the hood, and they cut the photo of the drivers seat high so you can't see that grandpa rolled out the side and ruined the seat bolster on the driver side.

Nice truck, yes, but I've always been wary of new paint jobs, as if they're not done right, within a year you'll have a blistered body all over again. It's still a 20 year old truck that will require lots of work to get mechanically in good shape. Not saying it wouldn't be a great truck to own, but I think the selling price is just too high.

Just sold....

$18095.00 at 7:00pm EST tonight

NJT - it looked pretty close to B-5…haha

I looked at the quick frame rattle can job and was less than impressed as well.
Nice truck but a little too much cash in my option.

That's not the first time it's been listed either...

I don't really trust the odo of any of these trucks based on their history of failure.

I have a 1990 w250 LE regular cab that just turned 36k. I found it on Cincinnati Craigslist late last winter and I paid a lot for it, but I think its worth what I paid. ($13500) It sat for 15 years in a garage until it was sold to a neighbor in 2011 with 24k on it.(for $2500!) He told me that's what he paid for it, and it was on the Ohio title so I would have seen it anyway. He too kept it indoors also so all the paint, weatherstripping, glass run channels etc. have no wear, sun damage or clearcoat delamination. It is the only one of many that I have owned that doesn't have any wind whistle in the vent windows. I was fortunate that the seller agreed to hold it for me since I live 4 hours away and there were several interested parties. That being said I literally have hundreds if not thousands of hours invested in scouring Craigslist sites in a 6 state area every day for the last 3 years to find this truck. I have not seen a lower mile regular cab ever. It has a few nicks and minor scratches but that's what you get with original paint that's 24 years old. It's not in my signature because I can't figure out how to delete the truck I sold (1991) and replace it with this one. It is an automatic which I have come to appreciate more after owning two 4.10 geared Getrags and its great on fuel.

My 1993 W350 dually 4x4 only has 108K. It had 72K on it when I got it 5 or 6 years ago. It's from SO Cal so it's completely rust free. Cab is solid. I did repaint because the hood and roof were burnt off from the sun. I have turned down a 15K cash offer for mine. It would be hard to let it go. It's a nice truck and gets ALOT of looks everywhere I go. I just mainly use it to haul firewood in style.

Wow that is a nice truck and I think its fantastic that it got such a high price. It only improves the market for the rest of us. A few years ago I picked up this '93 D250 with 118k on the odo (135k now) from my father in law. He gave it to me I thought because his daughter is of questionable quality but it was really so I would have to be his around their property It was rough when I got it but had solid bones (CA truck its entire life, originally sold in Sacramento).
